Time is just flying by and we're somehow managing to fill every single second! Our community has "Movies in the Park" once a month over the summer and we had our little girl hearts set on seeing the newer production of Cinderella a few Fridays back. Unfortunately, it was the animated classic instead so we made the most of it even though our girls were the oldest kiddos in attendance!
It's still magical to get a princess' autograph though!
We made it to the ballroom scene before calling it a night and heading home.
Sleepovers = donuts and donuts make everyone happy!
Sleepovers however, don't make for a great soccer game the next day - Phoebe's first game of the season was a rough one and she was pretty tuckered out by the second quarter.
Bigger fields means more running and this one only wanted to have water poured on her head when it was all said and done!
We went out to lunch with YiaYia and Papou afterwards and then stopped at a local bakery for something sweet. Phoebe took a rest and read the comics while we chatted.
We had our annual exams the following Tuesday and both kiddos are doing well. Phoebe had a "little pneumonia" so I felt like mom-of-the-year (especially coming off a sleepover weekend) so we started antibiotics and were on the mend right away.
Friday afternoon, I picked up Maverick earlier than normal since we closed the office early to kick off the holiday weekend and by 4:00 he had a fever! Nothing a little ibuprofen couldn't take care of and he was ready to go canoeing the next morning.
Searching for shells and crawfish.
Later that evening, some of the adults gathered at Plainfield High School to welcome home 175 WWII veterans who had gone to D.C. for an honor flight. Among those attendees were Grandpa Newell and Uncle Eric as his guardian.
He was greeted with a double kiss!
We are SO proud of his service to this country so very long ago. This 89-year-old had a full day but I'm sure it was a very special one that he won't soon forget!
On Sunday, Maverick had another fever so we kept with the ibuprofen and then decided a water balloon fight had Uncle Steve's name written all over it (don't mind our dead grass...)
The festivities even continued inside - Uncle Steve is such a good sport!
Monday was pretty low-key for a holiday around our house but that's because this guy still had a fever. We went back to the pediatrician exactly one week after their check-ups and he was diagnosed with a severed upper respiratory virus and put on antibiotics and breathing treatments every four hours. Over the next three days, I thought for sure we were headed to the emergency room more than once as this little guy just couldn't breathe very well. I thank the Lord for modern medicine, wise physicians and a flexible office so that we were able to take care of this little guy. We were home ALL week doing a lot of this and Curious George.
This season we have the majority of our soccer games at 8:00 on Saturday morning. It makes for an early start but it's so nice to have them first thing and then have the rest of the day to play! We had a bit of a cool down so it was a chilly start to the weekend!
Luckily, Maverick was finally feeling better by Saturday so we headed out to Conner Prairie for their Festival of Machines. I think he was as happy as I was to be out of the house!
There were some pretty big machines!

LOVE this handsome guy!
Phoebe tried out the derby car...
But put on the brakes WAY too soon!
They were more interested in visiting the playground anyhow!
We did make a quick stop in the village to check out the animals and pump some water!
Somehow I got roped into carrying the water to the garden for them.
Saturday night, Phoebe got to spend the night with a friend so we took advantage of our smaller number and headed to a restaurant Phoebe doesn't care for and then made a quick trip to Cabela's. No better way to celebrate being on the mend then ending the night with a brand new pop gun!
