It's been an uneventful week since Father's Day...I made it to work two days last week while Phoebe stayed home with our lifesaver: 1st grade teacher, comedienne, friend extraordinaire - Amanda Shank! It was so nice to leave her with someone we knew and loved. Not that it's any surprise, but she was a dream baby to watch, at least that's what she told us...and as hard as it will be to go back to work when she's 12 weeks old, I think I need it - for my own mental health!

I feel like there should be more to say, but really, you guys are only here for the pictures of Phoebe anyhow, so here's a few photos of our sweet pea from this past week!

Happy Father's Day! It was so fun to wish Ryan one for the first time - he got his Father's Day gifts early since he had a big fishing trip planned at the end of May - a little shopping spree to Gander Mountain. I told him he should try and get out this Saturday to fish, it's only in the 70s and low 80s this week - ideal weather for Ryan to go fishing in! He hasn't had as many opportunities to fish since my pregnancy and Phoebe's arrival so hopefully he'll get to catch up now that we're getting a small handle on this parenting thing...

We dedicated Phoebe at church on Sunday. It was so meaningful to hear the congregation commit to raising our little girl to know the Lord and for Ryan and I to make the promise to introduce her to Jesus. Nana flew in from Georgia and Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Newell drove down from Anderson. YiaYia led the congregation in the charge but stepped down to be with the family when Pastor Steve prayed for us and Barb Thorp charged us - we didn't want any tears on Phoebe's big day!

After church we headed out to lunch to celebrate the dads in our lives. It was a nice, long lunch so we had a relaxing time catching up with everyone. As you can tell, it'd been an exhausting day for Phoebe!

Doctor's visit

Today was Phoebe's 8 week appointment and let's just say she's our little super star! I was crying in the waiting room so the visit was much worse on me than it was on her! She is now up to 10 lbs. 9 oz. and is in the 50th percentile for weight. However, we're still in shock over how long she is - a whopping 24 inches which puts her in the 90th percentile! We're still not sure who she belongs to! I keep telling Ryan I was a tall child and then just stopped growing in sixth grade so maybe that's what we'll see with Phoebe.

She's been a bit fussy after her three shots so pray for a good night's sleep for all of us! We want her all bright-eyed for her dedication on Sunday!

8 Weeks Old!

It's so hard to believe she's 8 weeks old today! She goes in for her shots on Friday and I'll be interested to see how much she weighs now! She's starting to "talk" to us and actually smile - I can't begin to describe how her smiling at me makes me feel! We moved her to her crib over the weekend - Ryan seems to think it's best for everyone... Now we're working on trying to get her to fall asleep on her own. She seems to do well doing that during the day - it's just at nighttime when she wants to stay up!

Her baby dedication is this Sunday. We decided to dedicate her on Father's Day to make it extra special for Ryan since it's his first Father's Day. Anyone wanting to come, please feel free - it'll be during the third service at 11:00. We'd be honored to have any friends and family stand up with us as we dedicate her to the Lord. We have such a strong desire for Phoebe to grow up loving Jesus and we're so thankful that we attend a church that will help nurture her faith.

It's been so warm and muggy with all the rain we've had so she's going through lots of onesies. We put her in Colts attire yesterday afternoon - I remember when we received it from Terri that I honestly thought she'd never fit in it because it was so tiny and we were told she'd be big. Who knew!? Either way, Ryan was super proud to show off his littlest Colts' fan - even if it did make her look like a boy! Phoebe and I ran to Lowe's yesterday to buy some flowers and we got this shot last night - she's got lots of goofy expressions - and we love every single one!

Shawn & Miriam get married!

Saturday, we headed back to Anderson to celebrate the Chadwell's getting married! It was Phoebe's first wedding and she did fabulous (in the back row). I'm sure much of it had to do with Auntie Kate taking such good care of her!

The wedding was gorgeous and we LOVED THE choir singing "All You Need is Love" as the recessional!

We didn't get to visit with Joel much, but it was good to see him and we know Miriam was thrilled when Gabby came early so she could have him in the wedding!

The reception was lovely as well - the Chadwell's and the Newell's know how to live it up. They served everything from chili dogs to fajitas - you can't get more diverse than that! Who knows where they'll end up at on the mission field! Phoebe got passed around quite a bit at the reception and got to meet the rest of the Douglas side of the family.

And here we are at the end of the reception. No dancing for us - we had a little one who was ready to go home!
