Not much to report on but I wanted to post a few pictures for our far away family! Here's one from last week at church. Madison is 5 and just started kindergarten last week. Shawn Ryan (yep, named after my Ryan) turned 3 in May. Ryan and I have gotten to be called Uncle Ryan and Aunt Rose for the last five years and now the Taylor's get a turn at being Aunt Megan & Uncle Matt. Maddie picked out this strawberry outfit for Phoebe the day she was born and now she's finally big enough to wear it!

Here's one of Phoebe with a full tummy and a happy heart. She loves eating cereal almost as much as she loves playing with the spoon. Cereal ends up everywhere and we all need a bath by the time it's over but we're improving each day! You can tell by the clock behind her that we're still working on getting her to sleep at a half decent time.
I caught this one of her over the weekend. I kid you not, she's actually sleeping like this...oh to be that flexible!

Feet & Cereal

The day she officially turned four months old, she finally decides her feet are by far the tastiest thing she can put in her mouth! We're amazed at her flexibility and again wonder who this child belongs to!

Tonight was our first attempt at cereal. She was quite eager to try out this new dish but we're not sure how much of it she actually consumed. Regardless, it was very entertaining...now if only we could work on getting to bed at the same time every night, we'd be set!

The Indiana State Fair & Four Month Check Up!

Last night we made our annual trek to the Indiana State Fair with good friends Rob, Michelle & Nolan. We've had the most gorgeous weather in August which has made for a stellar turnout at the fair this year. I think it was in the mid-70s last night, no humidity and it was packed!

One of Ryan's favorite stops is the Dairy Barn. They've got everything from grilled cheese sandwiches to milkshakes. Usually Ryan opts for a glass of milk and a chocolate milkshake, sometimes even mozzarella sticks but it was one of the last stops on our route this year, so Ryan ordered just the milkshake. Either way, we found it fitting to give Phoebe her bottle here.

While the boys were in line at the dairy barn, I headed to another vendor to try out one of the fair's newest offerings: fried cookie dough. It's not the worst invention (I think that would be the fried pepsi) but I think it put us all past our threshold! Rob was the only one who resisted, which might explain why he was able to manage two more ears of corn on our way out!

The all time favorite at the fair for the boys is the corn on the cob. But they don't stop there. There's the foot-long corndog, the pork tenderloin, the fried potato that takes up the whole plate...which might explain why Ryan woke up sometime before 6:00 this morning saying he didn't feel so good...

Ryan and Nolan always have to make a stop at the saltwater taffy booth on our way out. Typically, Nolan will have his bag of taffy about gone by the time we make it home, but again, the cookie dough was an issue this year!

This morning was Phoebe's 4 month check up with Dr. Fisher. It's hard to believe she's that old already! She weighed in at 12 lbs. 14 oz. and is now 25 inches long. She's 80th percentile in height but only 40th in weight. The doctor said she may be a hungry baby - now you look at those thighs and tell me she's a hungry baby! We are going to start her on cereal tonight and see how she does eating from a spoon. The shots today weren't nearly as bad as last time since we knew what to expect. Hopefully the baby tylenol will do its job and we'll have no more cries today. She was happy when she woke from her nap and is already taking another one.

Meeting More Family!

We got to celebrate August birthdays last weekend and Phoebe got to meet her Great-Grandma Maralu for the first time. They hit it off from the start and she quickly became the center of attention.

She also got to meet her Great Aunt Debi who drove all the way from Georgia with Nana and Papa. Phoebe got to witness the twins in action over the weekend!

Nana brought bubbles for Phoebe. I've been assured she'll be much more interested in them next summer. For now, she seems to be quite content chewing on whatever she can get in her mouth. I'm scared to death she's going to start teething early. Mom said I started around 5 1/2 months so it's not that far away. Agh!

We celebrated Great-Grandma Maralu and Papa Rick's birthdays on Saturday. I'm not sure if it was the lack of sleep or just the company, but it was highly entertaining! It could have just been the sugar - we stopped by a local orchard to get a peach pie, the twins made a german chocolate cake and Maralu made a to-die-for ice cream cake. Needless to say, we were stuffed!

And trust me, you just had to be there...

This is thrown in just for those of you who haven't seen her chubby little thighs yet. Someone had the nerve to tell my mother last week while we were out shopping that I needed to feed her more. This Friday is Phoebe's four month appointment at her pediatrician's - I'll make sure to share the latest measurements. We still can't figure out how she's got our genes. All we know is she has won over our hearts, regardless of where she came from!
