Last weekend started out a little rocky. Phoebe felt warm most of Thursday evening and by the time Ryan and I went to bed she had a 102.1 fever. Gave her some ibuprofen and tucked her into our bed and we slept all night long. I headed into work and Ryan stayed home with the kiddos just to be safe.
But this is what happens when you feel ok and you're home with daddy.
I came home after lunch and relieved Ryan. No sign of a fever so our guess is just a weird fluke virus or her molars are fighting harder than normal to cut through. Either way, we spent most of our afternoon outdoors waiting for Auntie Kate to arrive.
We LOVE having Auntie in-state and truly enjoy getting to spend more time with her. We made breakfast together Saturday morning. Both kids wanted to mix!
Phoebe was SO proud of her chocolate chip pancakes (can you find the smiley face?)!
He was just happy to stir!
Saturday afternoon we headed to the Indiana State Fair. Maverick was in love with all the tractors, combines, excavators, forklifts, etc.
Then we headed off to see some animals.
Our annual visit to Little Hands on the Farm.
A princess!
How many people does it take to fill a tiny Ziploc bag with soybeans!?
Planting tomatoes.
Gassing up the tractors with fuel made by our soybeans!
Then it was time to see MORE animals!
The annual cheese sculpture in the making.
The world's largest cornball (it is the "Year of Corn" after all).
And yes, Maverick DID try to eat it!
The new Legos tent was a huge hit with the Wallis family!
This fountain continues to provide much relief to our kiddos year after year.
Phoebe loved feeding the goats!
And she LOVED the huge butterflies!
We made a donation to the FFA and played some putt-putt.
Fished.
PLAYED.
Dug for worms.
On the second lap around the fairgrounds, we found the pigs we missed the first time through. We ended our visit with a couple of pineapple whips and all was right with the world.
And after EIGHT hours at the state fair, we made it home in time to watch Wreck-It Ralph at a neighborhood move night. Luckily it was right next door to our house so the trek home at 11:00 was a short one! We were worn out!
Sunday after church and brunch, we spent the day back-to-school shopping for Phoebe. We ended at Target and were just plain exhausted and our lack of parenting skills showed. Yeah, that's my kid, barefoot, in Target.
Too cute to care!

Good thing I was there to take majority of these pictures! :) It's fun being back in Indiana to enjoy the little moments of life now too. They're my favorite kids after all!
