Spring Break - Part One

The weather keeps teasing us with warmer temperatures and sunshine and then clouds, rain and below freezing temps - Indiana just cannot make up its mind about what season it is!
However, our kids know when Popsicle season has begun!

The weekend before Phoebe's spring break, we volunteered at Shepherd Community with some Taylor University students.  It was a great opportunity for our family to serve and interact with TU alumni!  I got no pictures which is sad - I would have loved to capture the kids in action!  Afterwards, we headed to a friend of Maverick's home for his birthday party.  Maverick played hard but wasn't interested in eating -only the frosting off his cupcake!  The next morning he didn't want breakfast before church or lunch afterwards.  I guess we were lucky there wasn't much in his tummy as he puked while we were running an errand at Sam's Club.  So we headed home while Phoebe got to go to a fundraiser for a kid in our neighborhood.  It was at Prancing Ponies and she had a blast!

Maverick was hungry for dinner and kept it down, but being a responsible mother, we stayed home on Monday just to make sure (it was, after all, forecasted to be almost 70 and sunny).  The kid played non-stop, inside and out but had one horrible diaper incident.  Here he was telling me NOT to take his picture.

So back to school on Tuesday but the diaper incidents continued every day when he got home, once a day so I finally called the pediatrician - some nasty gastro bug was floating around...he had no fever and acted totally fine so I was hesitant to believe he had it.  Maverick turned the big 3 on Thursday and had been requesting Elmo and Cookie Monster cupcakes since Ryan's birthday back in January!

He had a hard time blowing out the candle so the troops were called in for assistance!

The frosting was a MESS.

But that is one happy three year old!

The next day began Phoebe's spring break!  She came to the office with me and did a great job!  She loved ordering her lunch from Jimmy John's!

And of course "worked" very hard.

She did get a little bored there at the end and took over my phone.

Love this one (it's her reflection in a tree pot).

Luckily, when we got home, we were greeted by Nana and Papa!  Good thing, too as Maverick's bug finally found me.  I was out for the count till about 10 the next morning but then ready to go so we decided to try bowling with the cousins!  It was our first attempt and not as easy as we'd hoped but the kids had a blast!

I think they'd have been happy to just stay in the arcade and play games.

Then we went home and opened presents!

Sunday morning, Ryan got the bug.  He was out ALL day long...

So we did another round of sanitizing and headed OUT of the house to get some fresh air while Ryan rested!  We landed at Conner Prairie for some indoor/outdoor fun!
Maverick prefers playing with all the gadgets and toys.

Phoebe prefers the animals.

I'm pretty sure the chickens are scarred for life by our children.

We tried our hand at stilt walking.

Papa showed us how its done!

We cooked.

We climbed.

We fed baby goats!!!

By far, Phoebe's highlight!

Parker and Bailey met us out there a bit later in the afternoon.

We ate dinner out (to avoid the bug at home) and finished the night off with frozen yogurt!

Monday was a MUCH better day for everyone's stomachs so with laundry running and the windows slightly open, we headed out to give painting pottery a whirl!

Then headed to the hardware store and Hobby Lobby to get everything we'd need to make our very own Fairy Garden!

Then took a bike ride.

And threw rocks in the creek.  Phoebe is pouting because she ran out of rocks first.

Then we headed home to sneak up and see if any fairies had made it home yet.

Thank you Nana and Papa for coming to celebrate April birthdays and kick off Spring with us!  SO thankful no one else got the bug, too!  Can't wait to do it all again (minus the bug) soon!
