The Heat Is On!

One of my all-time absolute favorite things about summer is Farmers Markets!  Westfield's market is on Friday evenings, conveniently on our way home from summer camp!  They had an organic co-op from Hartford City (that employs Taylor University students no less) so I had to sign up!  We're going to be a lot more adventurous around the dinner table this summer depending on what we bring home in our tote each time.  This week we had bok choy (which I never would have bought in the grocery store) but I failed to use the edible flowers they sent home - I'm just not THAT adventurous...

The beginning of summer brought the end of soccer and Phoebe's last game had a time change and the opposing team didn't show up with the corrected schedule.  What were we to do?  The girls played a mean game of Kiddos v. Family and everyone was entertained!  She loved soccer so much, we've already signed up for the fall league!

We got to spend an entire day with Auntie Kate and had so much fun at Conner Prairie together!  It was a special weekend there so we got to try out lots of new things.  Like Bollywood dancing...

Learned a bit about our solar system...

Dreamed a bit...

Dug a bit...

And touched a bunch of animals NOT native to the Midwest!

Armadillos!

Sloth!

We've got one very brave girl on our hands!

The circus was also visiting Conner Prairie - and the mini bike was more challenging than it looked!

Walking the tightrope.

This contraption was LOTS of fun!

This multi-person bike was fun as well.

Auntie even got to show off her musical talent!

The winds finally died down enough for us to go up in the balloon!

When you're the mom of boys, this picture happens more often than you'd think...

Daring to look ALL the way down!

No visit is complete without a stop at the animal barn.

We made a quick visit to the strawberry patch on our way home.

Someone needs to work on their picture-taking skills...

The following week, Maverick's class had a field trip to the downtown public library.  We walked there from his school and made such good time that we arrived thirty minutes early.  So we ran around American Legion Mall Park to burn some energy!

The kids loved their scavenger hunt.

Then they each got digital cameras and had to take pictures of certain shapes.

On the way back to school, we stopped to visit the policemen on horses which we don't see very often.  We just couldn't get too close since they were hard at work.

We've also signed up for swimming lessons so we can hopefully get rid of our floaties once and for all!  Maverick was NOT excited about participating and didn't really warm up to the idea till the very end of the lesson.  Fingers crossed we have a better time this week!

Pretty sure this one will be a pro in no time!
