We took Phoebe's training wheels off her small bike and then recently inherited a 16-inch bike from cousin Hailey and we're taking our sweet time figuring it out. Phoebe said she needed some "protection" other than a helmet so here she is trying out her new gear Saturday morning. Goes nicely with a nightgown, right?
She kept her gloves on while we visited the farmers' market and while we got dress alterations made for an upcoming wedding.
Making all kinds of goodies for Sunday.
Saturday afternoon, we had a Summer Bash in our neighborhood. The local fire department came out to get the party started.
Maverick alternated between the spray and the tennis courts - either way he was happy!
We then moved on to water balloons and fun on the playground.
Sunday morning we attempted to get up early and make monkey bread for Father's Day. We weren't successful with breakfast in bed, but the effort was there.
After church we grabbed a picture - man, how did I get SO very lucky?!
Papou and YiaYia came over for lunch to continue the celebration. We made homemade fried chicken which is typically out of my comfort zone; I certainly discovered I'm not a successful multitasker in the kitchen! The frosting for the almond bundt cake he picked required getting to the "soft ball stage" with a candy thermometer - let's just say it was more praline than frosting but at least it was still edible! And we were with family and that's ALL that mattered!
Not only do I have a dad who has sacrificed, loved, encouraged, guided and lifted me up time and time again, but my kids have a dad who does the exact same thing for them. We are truly blessed.
The kids gave Ryan an "exotic driving experience" in a Lamborghini out at Grissom Air Force in mid-July. We're lucky to have a man who loves adventure in our lives.
After cards and gifts were opened, we Skyped with Auntie Kate in Pennsylvania and Uncle Steve in Chicago.
Sunday evening was pretty relaxed. We practiced a bit on the bike.
We also got in some time at the pool this past week. The kids would live in the water if they had the chance. Diving for rings is easier when you're in two feet of water!
My water bugs!
