We just got back from a lovely trip to Georgia so it's catch up time (I apologize in advance for the overabundance of photos). The weekend before we left, I hosted a bridal shower at our home. While celebrating, Ryan was in charge of the kiddos and took them to the river. They came home wet and dirty but VERY happy.
Our cute children are starting to bond - at least on Sunday mornings, watching TV while we get ready for church!

Ryan's truck wasn't done getting repaired after being in the shop since Monday so we opted to take the rental car to Georgia. Because of the late start, we ended up spending the night somewhere in Tennessee and then arrived around lunchtime. We loved hanging out with the extended family while in town. Lots of time outdoors (but please don't mention ticks to me or I'll start twitching after my tick-on-the-ear episode I had at 4:30 one the morning...).
When the weather cooperated, our children were found here:
If they weren't found IN the pool, they were found around it searching for frogs, lizards, dragonflies...
Or found here, rounding up and feeding the chickens or collecting eggs.

Phoebe got called the bug-whisperer while we were there. Dragonflies would just come land on her while she patiently held her hand out. She was pretty proud of herself for it, too!

The forecast was gray towards the end of our stay so we made a few road trips to exciting places (like IKEA!) and Stone Mountain. On the tram up to the top. Last time we made the trek was the day Ryan proposed so it was a bit nostalgic for us.
Note the clouds!? The kids had fun running around and Maverick managed to find nearly every puddle.

We were graciously given a couple of date nights while in Georgia and managed to stuff ourselves at restaurants and watch late-night movies in actual theaters, too! It was lovely!

He entertained everyone with his little sayings that he's picked up from either games on the Innotab or being in the van too long with me...Our all-time favorite is hearing him say, "Oh, Fiddlesticks!" (courtesy of Jake & the Never Land Pirates) but he says "Come on, people!" and "Stupid cars" with just as much enthusiasm! Love this one's silliness!
Stone Mountain had something like an amusement park in its "village" but most of it was closed either due to the weather or the fact that it was a Wednesday. It was fun to look around and make plans for next time.
Unfortunately, we didn't make it out before the downpour. Our parka'd hero went to get the car for us but we were ALL soaked by the time we got back on the road.

On the actual 4th, the parade AND the fireworks were cancelled because of the rain so we headed back to Atlanta and went to the Imagine It! Children's Museum with the whole family. We had high expectations coming from Indianapolis and while it didn't compare, it offered hours of distraction for everyone.

Our nine-hour trek took TWELVE hours between the heavy rains, accidents and traffic but the kids were troopers! Maverick finally fell asleep about 9:45 and Phoebe lasted about another hour or so.
There's only so much movie-watching that is considered fun before even that gets old when you're in a car! Luckily we'd planned to have two days home to get back in the groove. No doubt, Monday will be hard regardless. Thanks, Nana and Papa for hosting us!
