This was our second year being home for Christmas but our first year being "settled" since we moved at Thanksgiving last year. Eager to start implementing traditions for our family, both kids got pjs and an ornament on Christmas Eve. Phoebe has been wanting "footie" pjs ever since she grew out of her last pair so we got them matching ones. They were thrilled!
Then we hung our homemade stockings and read the Christmas story from the Bible, wrote our letter to Santa and got out cookies. We forgot all about the reindeer AND Santa's milk, but figured he'd help himself if he was truly thirsty anyhow!
Phoebe came downstairs TWICE before finally falling asleep. The second time, I was eating Santa's cookies - luckily disaster was avoided as we headed back upstairs for good!
One of my fondest memories growing up was waiting at the top of the stairs while mom and dad got downstairs "ready" with a fire blazing, music playing, etc. so we're going to try and continue that tradition in the Wallis house.
Once stockings were handed out, everything was pretty much a blur!
Phoebe was so relieved she got her panda bear! Maverick just like opening presents...in fact he's still asking if he gets a present most days...
Maverick got his own bike with training wheels but we couldn't resist getting both kids Big Wheels (they're currently getting lots of use in our basement).
She also got her "Dog Named 'Boo'" - yet she wasn't satisfied as she was still waiting on her purple sock monkey and her squinkies. In fact, she wanted to go out Christmas afternoon to spend her Christmas money to get the missing items from her list. We had to convince her she had two more Christmases to celebrate - it was a small lesson in patience!

Luckily, this was all we had to assemble after gifts were opened (besides ALL the legos...).
Christmas afternoon we made the trip over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house in Anderson. It was fun to see some extended family.

We were so grateful to have another Christmas spent with these dear people.
