Last weekend we ventured off towards Princeton to see the Greats and on our way, had to make our customary stop at Boot City. The kids both found hats that fit!
Maverick saw this spinning wheel and immediately said, "Mommy! Look! A pirate wheel!"
Taking a breather at the bar, hoping for some root beer!
On the way out, after a quick bathroom break, they had to try on boots...
Once we arrived in Princeton, Phoebe and Maverick were surprised to find Nana and Papa waiting for them as well! We spent a lot of time outside!
We went over to Kay and Vaughn's to pick the biggest blackberries we'd ever seen!
Then Maverick got invited to drive the tractor. He was in heaven! He steered like a champ and had a blast manipulating the forklift up and down!
Phoebe reluctantly got on and gave it a whirl.
Then took a few trips around with Nana.
The kiddos loved playing with these 8 month old Great Pyrenees dogs, Honey & Bear! The pictures simply don't do justice to their size - they were huge and they're not even full grown yet.
After the farm, we headed to Owensville for the Watermelon Festival. That's Nana and Phoebe getting ready to tackle the big slide!
Maverick preferred riding the motorcycle!
Then we waited in line to ride the firetruck around town!
I can't believe we didn't get a single picture with GG! I'm pretty sure we wore her out though. After Nana and Papa left on Sunday, we headed over to visit with Great Grandmother. She and Phoebe get along famously and had a good chat!
When we got back to GG's, Phoebe wanted to show me that she could climb a tree!
Monday morning, we got up and headed to Santa Claus, Indiana for a day at Holiday World. As you can see from this picture, Maverick wasn't thrilled to be there. He started feeling warm so we went to the First Aid building and he measured a 102.9 fever. We then spent $15 on a bottle of children's Advil and watched Phoebe ride a few rides while the medicine worked its magic.
It must have done the trick because he was ready for the rides in no time!
After his tractor experience in Patoka, he's decided he prefers the driver's seat!
They weren't too sure of Mav's driving skills!
Phoebe rode her first roller coaster and LOVED it! Ryan, not so much!
Luckily, I'm shorter than Ryan so my knees didn't hit at every bump and turn. Phoebe even rode it a few times by herself! She couldn't get enough!
We did the teacups. Once. And that was enough.
Maverick enjoyed the leisurely stroll in his canoe.
Phoebe just may be our little thrill seeker - she loved the giant swings, too!
They even tried their hand at the bumper cars!
After the bumper cars, we took off for Splashin' Safari and no phones were in sight for fear they'd be dropped from 10 stories up as we waited for a water slide or submerged in the water so we didn't get a single picture in the water. They LOVED the water park and all its slides. And as you can see, the day ended MUCH better than it started!
