We had a bit of a heatwave in July and the Wallis family doesn't do hot. So what do you do to stay cool!? Go see Minions 3D!
It was so hot that the movie theater actually lost power for about 20 minutes as their system was working overtime to try and keep the place cool. Win/win though - we got four free movie tickets on our way out of the theater for the inconvenience!
And lest you think our lives are all glamour and rainbows, this was dinner that night.
Each summer, my parents attempt a "camp" of some sort with the kids. This year, YiaYia got adventurous and took the kiddos to Brown County State Park and actually CAMPED. Two nights and this was their haul.
Luckily, Auntie went along for support and pictures! She captured some cute moments and shared them over the weekend (isn't it crazy how much we miss them when they're not around!?).
Nothing like a little rice krispie treat to end the evening!
This is what sugar before bedtime in a tent looks like for our little guy. He IS a handful!
Just because they're camping doesn't mean you can't keep part of your routine. Winding down with some bedtime stories.
They were up and dressed before 7:00. Auntie was thrilled!
But at least they got to see nature at its finest.
No weekend would be complete without at least one stop at a playground!

Ryan and I took advantage of the kid-free weekend and took a long bike ride before utilizing a couple of our free movie passes!
YiaYia had a full itenerary for the kiddos full of crafts, games, etc.
Papou joined them on Saturday and took them to the pool!

I think they picked the hottest weekend to be outside but that didn't slow them down!
YiaYia was prepared with water guns (which Maverick used to scare away the bears!).
They had a blast roughing it in the woods with YiaYia, Papou and Auntie. They don't know how lucky they are to get experiences like this! I'm pretty certain Ryan wasn't made to camp in a tent. Ever. Everyone came home exhausted but I know the kids are already excited about next year's camp!
