Memorial Day in Georgia

We left Wednesday around 5:15 after Ryan got home from work to head to Georgia.  We'd never left that late with one kid let alone two, so it was no surprise that we ended up calling it a night in Knoxville around 11:30.  We'd had a nasty forecast all day and drove through Greensburg right after a nasty storm went through, all the large green signs down along the interstate, trees in the road so it was a bit nerve wracking of a trip.  Phoebe (who was not asleep in the car) was jumping on the bed when we got to our room and needed to go see the pool, eat a snack, etc. and I think we all were sound asleep by 1:00.

Although it was more expensive and a longer trip, it was nice to take two days.  We got into Fayetteville around noon and were greeted by Nana (Papa was staying at our house in Indy to see the Indy500), Lucas and GG (who came down from Princeton the weekend before).

One of the first things Phoebe wanted to do was swim.

We dipped Maverick's feet in but he wasn't a big fan.

The storms that went through Indiana the day before hit Georgia on Thursday so we were without power for a few hours.  Got to enjoy dinner by candlelight and Phoebe got to play with Nana's Nook.

Maverick really enjoyed cousin Sophie's bouncy seat - who cares if it's pink!?

There was a LOT of Nana-love while we were there.  Ryan and I both could have been in Timbuktu and Phoebe would have had NO idea!

Showing off her unique style (those are Build-a-Bear sunglasses that she's since claimed as her own).

The storm blew a lot of debris into the pool and some of the biggest spiders I've ever seen.  That didn't stop Phoebe though!  She helped me vacuum out the pool and kill the bugs.

Maverick got some Nana-lovin' too!

Phoebe loves her cousin Lucas!

Saturday we went over to Uncle Mike and Aunt Carrie's to celebrate Sophie's first birthday.

Maverick slept while Phoebe opened Sophie's presents (Sophie took a nice long nap during her party).

Our attempt at a family picture - hopefully we'll look a bit more put together and alert next time.

Phoebe and Sophie will have a blast together as they get older!

On Sunday after church, we all piled in the car and went to Nana's friend Linda's house.  She has a fairy garden and invited Phoebe to come visit.

The fairies pulled out all the stops!  They even had a welcome sign for Phoebe.

They'd left her a note in their mailbox.

I love the way she's standing in this picture.

They'd left her some cookies and a present!  It was really quite impressive!

We picked up a little suit for Maverick to get him in the pool.

Sophie came over to swim for the first time this season, too!

Getting some baby girl love.

Doing what he does best...

Does Nana look tired?  Phoebe slept in Nana's bed while we were there and I'm sure experienced Phoebe's horizontal sleep position a time or two...

It took us eleven hours to drive home on Monday but our kids did great!  Maverick slept and ate but was a champ!  We finally broke out the dvd player around 7:30 and Phoebe stayed awake till we got home at 11.  Needless to say, she slept in till 11:00 the next morning and slept in till 10:00 today.
