Yay for Summer!

This poor little guy is definitely trying to figure out a sleep schedule - he just hasn't found one that works yet. One night he'll fall asleep at 7:30 and the next night, still be wide awake at 11:15.  I also think we're officially done with swaddling of any kind - we'd been using the velco swaddler that comes with the sleep sack because it just seemed to contain him best.  However, when I reached over Saturday morning to give him his pacifier, the swaddle part was up around his neck so we've nixed it altogether.  If there's anything like "Restless Baby Syndrome" this little guy has it.  His arms and legs are EVERYWHERE when he sleeps.

This picture doesn't do justice to Phoebe's first experience with a fudgesicle. It was on everything (I feel I should clarify that she dressed herself in this outfit) - her skirt, shirt and crocs were covered in soupy fudge but she was ONE happy girl.  And if you'll note Mackenzie's bangs - that's one of my biggest fears - that Phoebe will take scissors to her hair - I didn't think I'd still have to worry about it when she's seven, but apparently so.

On Friday, I decided to head to the Children's Museum (our membership was up at the end of the month and I wanted to renew) - however, when we pulled into the parking garage, I realized that a rainy Friday during the summer - probably NOT the best time to go...And before I even made it into the museum - two different people looked our little crew up and down and then told me I was one brave woman.  About an hour into our visit, I felt like the little guy here next to Phoebe.

She was ALL over the place.

I fed him at one point on a bench and told Phoebe that we had to be able to see each other while she played but I think she doesn't quite grasp what that means.  There were multiple times I thought I was going to have to flash hordes of people so I could find my daughter.  Luckily, she always came back into view just as I was about to really panic.

We spent quite a bit of time in the Barbie exhibit which is funny since she doesn't spend nearly as much time with them at home.

A very serious phone call.

Walking on the runway, or off it, in this case.

Their new National Geographic exhibit had some new things to try out.  She got to dig for Chinese soldiers.

But she had more fun twirling the measuring tape...

And she LOVED balancing on these cannons while she was "diving underwater."

After five hours at the museum, I was beat and thought for SURE we'd all sleep really well.  However, it seems when I PLAN on anything, it always backfires.  Phoebe woke up twice and finally ended up in our bed around 2:00 and then slept soundly till Maverick got up at 6:30.

Saturday, Ryan had to do a little work in the office so we took advantage and went to a park up north.  Is it obvious how very much Phoebe loves to play?

She surprised me by wanting to go on this very tall slide.  I opted to hang out with Maverick and let Ryan take her up.

And this guy was a pretty happy camper as long as he could see what was going on.  It's hard to believe he's 12 weeks old already!

We then took a walk to see what else the park had and stopped so Phoebe could get her picture taken on this "broken" tree.

We ended our time at the park with a ride on the carousel and a sno-cone.  We are SO glad summer is here!
