Sorry for the mini blog-hiatus - we should be back on track and prayerfully drama-free for the rest of 2011! We had a minor health scare (which didn't feel minor at the time - Ryan woke up in the middle of the night in so much upper abdominal pain that he drove himself to the hospital two miles away). They diagnosed it as a possible gall bladder attack, gave him three prescriptions after a codeine-drip and a CT scan. We're not sure what to call it, but pray it never happens again. And we took Maverick back to Riley to get his catheter out and are now continuously applying neosporin till the glue, stitches and scar are all gone.
The weekend before Thanksgiving was cold, Ryan had to work so what was I to do? We decorated the tree, put up some decorations and we pulled out gloves and hats. Here's our little chocolate face who slept in hers the first night. And yes, those were her pjs that night. She's really into wearing short-sleeves right now, even if there are long-sleeves underneath.
Maverick got in on the holiday decor, too!
Random photo of Phoebe sleeping before we headed to bed (thus the reason she has to now wear long-sleeves to bed).
YiaYia tried to educate Phoebe on pilgrims.
We also got to see Auntie Kate before they headed to Chicago for Thanksgiving. Just doing a little bed-jumping to celebrate her arrival!
Phoebe would change her outfit five times a day if we'd let her. When we went to pack for our trip to Georgia, I discovered ALL my jeans were in storage. I went to buy some cheap jeans and took Phoebe with me into the dressing room so she could try on a few outfits of her choice.
Seems she's got a "Phoebe" pose down.
Nothing says "princess" like a bike helmet!
Thursday morning, packed and ready to head to Nana's!
From the airport we drove straight to Aunt Carrie & Uncle Mike's.
Last time we were there was to celebrate Sophie's first birthday. She's gotten SO big!
Cousins!
Phoebe has added some serious hip swinging to her dance-move list.
Trying on Papa's shades.
Headed to the "forest" to pick up some wood so we could roast hot dogs.
Not sure what that face was for but post-worthy anyhow!
We got Phoebe "Elf on the Shelf" and after seeing the little t.v. movie - her elf is also named "Chippey." He made it safely back to Indiana and shows up a different place every morning. Threatening to tell Chippey about her whining gets her to straighten up pretty quickly - not sure how long that will remain effective, but I'll take it while I can!
Maverick LOVES Nana's dehydrated pineapple almost as much as we do!
Phoebe helped Papa put together one of their Christmas trees.
Phoebe and Nana got crafty and made holiday door knockers.
Happy boy - we got to borrow a lot of Sophie's baby stuff - good thing he looks good in pink!
Lucas, although only 13 is getting to be SO big! Phoebe loves him so!
Aunt Carrie loving on the "babies."
Daddy getting some Phoebe love after church.
Our attempt for a family photo - this may be as good as it gets - act surprised if it shows up in your mailbox on a holiday card!
We finally got to meet Nana's chickens. Phoebe loved greeting them each morning and going out to look for eggs in the afternoon.
Ella came over for a visit after they got back from Princeton.
We finally caved and let Maverick back in a jumper - after his procedure, he was supposed to stay away from all objects that put pressure on his crotch for a week - we figured two weeks was long enough!
Phoebe helped Nana make cookies before we left.
My happy boys! Ryan decided it was time to do a little sleep training with Maverick while we were in Georgia. He let him cry himself to sleep and every time he woke up at night. We'd been getting up 2-3 times a night, I'd end up feeding him and then he'd sleep with us - bad habits to say the least. He made HUGE strides while we were there.
Phoebe and Nana had sleep-overs every night we were there - I'm sure they were both exhausted by the time we finally headed home.
Yep, asleep on the way to the airport...
We're SO grateful for a God who loves us, lots of friends and family, good health, happy kids, good jobs and a warm apartment to come home to. It's so hard to believe December is here and Christmas is right around the corner. And to kick off the month of December, we've found that Maverick will eat an entire jar of baby food (as long as it's fruit and has no cereal in it) and then if we give him a 5-6 oz. bottle of formula, he sleeps ALL the way through the night. At least this strategy has worked the last two nights, so we're ready to make this a permanent routine!
