Papa came to town Thursday night for a long weekend (and to go to the race) - the kiddos had such fun reading and eating Long's donuts together!
Friday, I chaperoned a field trip to the Children's Museum with Phoebe's class.
She loved riding the bus there with all her friends!
I think there were 25 kids and 16 adults and I still think it was a miracle we didn't lose anyone!
Saturday we headed to the parade and survived the 90-plus degree temperatures only because we were in the shade for most of the event and had a lovely breeze. It started at noon - right in the middle of Maverick's nap time so we pulled through, but just barely!
My man Mitch.
Olivia Newton John
Golden Dragon
Guy Fieri
Cat in the Hat
We kept the snacks coming and only made one bathroom run during the parade.
Conveniently, our seats were right outside my office building so we headed upstairs for a quick potty break before we hit the road. While in the office, Maverick got to run around and burn some energy. Oh how he looks like his daddy!
Sunday, since it was in the mid-90s and we FINALLY found a floaty at Target (since our other one is MIA in storage) we headed to the pool!
The pool ranges from two to four feet so Phoebe didn't keep her floaty on for long. She's Miss Independent these days and I'm desperately trying to find swimming lessons so she's even more confident - especially in pools where she won't be able to touch the bottom! Maverick wasn't sure about the pool - he loved walking around but refused to sit in his tube.
He much preferred roaming around the pool to floating in it.
And...Miss Big Time here is finally able to ride her bike! Forget the tricycle! We bought this beauty at a garage sale last summer for $5 and only had to get new inner tubes for the tires. She's probably a little big for it but I think it'll be the perfect bike for her to learn without training wheels. It didn't take long for her to get super confident on it either. We should have had her wear her helmet but sort of got caught up in the moment. She only had one tumble and that's because she got distracted with people playing catch outside and went into the grass.
And...she's off!
