Counting Down

We've been doing a lot of counting down at our place lately.  Counting down till we would see Uncle Steve, counting down till we'd celebrate YiaYia's birthday over a three-day weekend, counting down the days till we are no longer apartment-dwellers but homeowners...

Luckily for us, we haven't had to wait too long!  Sunday, Uncle Steve and Bevin made the trek down from Chicago to help us celebrate YiaYia's birthday.  Phoebe and YiaYia made a button necklace for fall.

And Phoebe caught up with Uncle Steve and burned a lot of pent up energy she had due to all the rain we got over the weekend!

Uncle Steve is very keen on getting our kids to recognize their musical gifts.

And their literary prowess...

Back to the instruments with Uncle Steve - he doesn't take no for an answer!

Phoebe and Daddy were REALLY excited about YiaYia's birthday cake from Dairy Queen!

But first YiaYia opened gifts.  Phoebe put a picture in with her card and wrote "YiaYia Le Rousopoulos" on both the drawing and the envelope.

These girls simply can't get enough frosting!

Grandpa and Grandma Newell drove down from Anderson to help us celebrate.

My sweet boys.

My cute parents.

Bevin and Phoebe being silly.

Uncle Steve tolerated a lot.  That's all I'm going to say.

Monday we headed to breakfast to celebrate YiaYia with pancakes!  Maverick isn't a huge fan of being restrained while he eats so restaurants aren't typically a relaxing, enjoyable experience for us.  Luckily, we had a couple of extra hands that made it a bit easier than normal.

Nothing like a little Happy-Birthday-Wake-Up song!

And we continue to make progress on the house.  We went as a family to look at the house mid-week and walk through the rooms and by the end of the week, they'd cleaned up and made it start looking like a home.

Did I mention we got some rain last week?

It held off on Monday so we took everyone to see our new digs.

Again, Uncle Steve was such a trooper!  He even has the battle scars to prove it (Maverick isn't a big fan of getting his nails trimmed, either).

When Ryan drove by our house tonight, they'd shingled the roof AND all of our doors and windows were in - they're moving much faster than we ever would have anticipated.  Now if only packing up all of our belongings would happen just as fast!
