Fair Finale

In keeping with Wallis family tradition, we headed back to the Indiana State Fair on Thursday to meet up with one of our good friends.  However, most of my time was spent with this girl at this fountain.  See the joy on her face?  The shorts were soaked by the time we left, but she had a great time!

On Friday, after taking Coco to the vet for her final round of vaccines (she now weighs 7 lbs. 15 oz. - which means she's gained almost five pounds in two months!!!) we headed over to pick up YiaYia and head back to the fair!  It wasn't as cool outside as we'd hoped, so we did as many things inside as one can do at a fair.  Here's Phoebe with some giant pumpkins in the agricultural center.  She loved looking at all the different vegetables.

And of course it's no surprise, we ended up back at this location.  At least this time, we didn't get drenched.  I'll not lie, the water felt good on my feet too!

Then we headed into the barn to feed the calves...

We also made a stop near Pioneer Village to pick up some eggs.

She was very interested in the hens and wanted to hear them "cluck, cluck, cluck."

Then she "fed" the cows and pigs her corn and soybeans.

After planting her tomato seed, she got to go dig one up. She also got to "milk" a cow and "shear" a sheep. 

It was around this time that we decided it was getting too hot to spend anymore time in the sun. We grabbed a couple of lemon shake-ups and watched people ride an elephant for awhile. After being there nearly four hours, we took the shuttle around the fairgrounds to get one last look at everything.  We ended the experience with YiaYia's favorite, a funnel cake!  It didn't take long at all before we saw this in the back seat on our ride home.

Unfortunately, we arrived home to a broken air conditioner.  It was a whopping 89 degrees INSIDE the house when Ryan came in from mowing the lawn so it was a bit of a long night.  Phoebe slept in our bed and we thankfully got the call Saturday morning (while we were out for breakfast because it was too darn hot in the house to cook)  that someone would arrive within the hour!  Luckily it was something that could easily be replaced and things are now back to a lovely 73 degrees.

Today after church, we got to have lunch with GreatGrandpa and GreatGrandma Newell and YiaYia and Papou!  It was a rough start, but once we had brunch in front of her, she was focused.  One piece of french toast, some strawberries and FOUR strips of bacon later, she was one contented girl!

Last night we met my friend Amanda (Phoebe calls her "Mandy") and hung out at the mall till Ryan was done with his fantasy football draft.  She got Phoebe to do something I have NEVER been able to do - smile for the camera.  If I get a copy of the picture, I'll post it - it's that perfect toddler cheese.  Until I do, this kind of crazy smile is about all we get!

On a side note, we're still nowhere near being interested in the potty but the last two days, she's covered her entire face when she poops.  Then she tries to pretend like she was just playing peek-a-boo all along.  She's such a goofball!
