Catch Up December 2012, Part 2

Shalom held their annual Christmas Program mid-December.  Their sanctuary is on the second level of the church and absolutely gorgeous.  It's about an hour-long program where the kids sort-of sing and parents clamor to take pictures of their children.  It's the same year after year and we wouldn't trade it for anything.

Maverick didn't get into the choreography for his class' performance but he handled it better than the kid behind him!

The girls in Phoebe's class did a dance and if we can ever figure out how to load videos from our camcorder onto our computer, I'll include it as it's a real gem.

Afterwards, we grabbed dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory and then toured the lights downtown.

Phoebe made a gingerbread house in class and got to bring it home and shared it with Daddy.

Phoebe's class had a Christmas party the week before Christmas and it was pure chaos but they had a blast.  They loaded up with sweets and then had a gift exchange.

Phoebe and Eli had each other.  He got a firetruck that I think Maverick would have preferred to keep and she got a puppy and a Tinkerbell doll.

The last weekend before we were to head to Georgia, Ryan finds the truck of his dreams is for sale in Shreveport, Louisiana and decides to trade in his beloved 1998 (260k miles) jeep for $1250 (he was very clear - told them the drivers seat was held together with duct tape, etc. and they were willing to give him that much for it).  So he got up at 3:45 a.m. Saturday morning and headed to Louisiana.  About 3:30 in the afternoon, the alternator gave out on the jeep and he was in a little town about 30 miles north of Little Rock where no alternators could be found.  Luckily, he was able to persuade one of the mechanics that towed the jeep to take him to the nearest car rental so he could continue on to Shreveport.  He gave Ryan $500 for the jeep and they called it good.  Ryan made it to the dealer after business hours but they had stayed till he arrived and he made the LONG trek home on Sunday in his brand new truck...

Sunday afternoon was pretty mild for mid-December so I took the kids to the park to run around before meeting YiaYia and Papou for lunch.

They loved looking at the ducks.

I am SO thankful for a husband who has a job that does NOT require him to travel or work crazy hours.  I love my children dearly but enjoy them OH so much more when I get to share the parental duties with him!
